Large-Scale Voxel Generation Developer Tool.
For my university dissertation I created a tool to assist small game studios with creating their games environments. The tool allows the user to fully customise the size and look of the planets. Features such as terrain roughness and height, cave size and density, as well as being able to customise the material of the planet.
The project also contains a script to attach to a playable object where you can set the objects gravity to a selected planet. Using the script the play is able to terraform the planets.
Notes:
- On completing development and testing the tool I found that the size of the planets cannot exceed the size of 2000 due to limitations with render textures.
- The project contains a README file detailing how to use the tool.
- The terraforming ability on the player script can be quite buggy. With that being said, this feature was not the main focus of the project.
- This tool uses compute shaders.
- The project contains multiple different versions of the tool which will contribute to the projects size. The final version scripts are stored in the 'final version' folder.
